Our Approach

We recognize evolvewell as a studio open to the various lineages of yoga, drawing from various traditions to embody the true essence of yoga or "union" through the union of diverse teaching styles and teachers. However, all yoga taught at evolve well will be heart-oriented, spiritually inspiring, yet grounded in a deep knowledge of optimal body alignment in the poses. Instructors encourage students to listen to the messages of their body, respect its wisdom and limitations, and to progress at their own pace.

Yoga systematically stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body, increases circulation to internal organs and glands, quiets the nervous system, and improves concentration. A total system of self-care, yoga can bring vitality, health, deep relaxation, and peace of mind.

We offer yoga classes for everyone from moms-to-be, children, teenagers, families to seniors. Please see complete class descriptions under Class Descriptions.

Class Description

Family Yoga
These classes are an exciting and invigorating adventure into your body and create a special time to bond between you and your child. Each class journey is a unique opportunity to communicate with your child in a different manner and build their self-confidence and stretch your body as well.

Everyone gets some physical activity, techniques to manage their emotions and improved body awareness and coordination.

Families that yoga together, smile more

Adult Open Yoga
The majority of classes are taught at an open level, unless otherwise specified. As we evolve, class levels will be catered to meet the needs of the evolvewell community. Within the intimacy of our space, every student will be offered modifications appropriate for their level of practice.

Deep relaxation is included in each class at the completion of the posture sequences.

Adult Beginner's Yoga
Start where you are! Basic level classes help you understand the fundamentals of building postures from the ground up! This class will help you open up areas of tightness such as hips and shoulders and get you moving with basic Sun Salutations sequences - safely. You'll be introduced to connecting breath with movement and the basic alignment in standing poses.

This level is perfect for beginners, those recovering from an injury, new moms or for a change of pace.

Level I
Intended for new students or those seeking a refresher. This class introduces basic asana, breath work and Sun Salutations. Level I sets a safe foundation upon which to grow a yoga practice.

Level I/II
Intended for students who have had a basic foundation of alignment-based asana experience for at least 6 months. Focus is on creating greater confidence in the practice while strengthening the body with standing poses, gentle backbends, twists, forward bends and foundations of inversions are also practiced.

Level II
Intended for students who have practiced alignment-based yoga for at least six months. Postures are refined and held longer, deeper backbends, revolved standing poses and continuing level inversions are practiced regularly.

Gentle Yogic Stretching and Strengthening

This class draws upon a variety of body-mind techniques including Somatic Yoga, Feldenkrais, Ahimsa Yoga and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. For the release of stress and tension held in the body, enhanced body-mind awareness, and a more balanced and integrated state of well being. This class is designed to accommodate all levels.

Flow
Links the yoga postures into a flowing sequence which integrates the breath and movement to promote heat, flexibility, and stability. Emphasis is placed on the usage of breath to support and posture flow.

Restorative
Restorative yoga poses are extremely effective in producing the "relaxation response" and in counteracting the negative effects of the "stress response" on the immune system. These postures are particularly effective during times of stress, fatigue, or low energy. The restorative asanas are supported and maintained by the use of props.

Children's Yoga/ Fun! Fit! Creative!
Fun! Fit Creative! Yoga classes can benefit your child in a number of ways by: developing strong and flexible bodies with an emphasis on balance and coordination; increasing their mental concentration, focus, and attention; and to build self-esteem and confidence.

Mommy & Me (18 - 35 months)
A delightful, and nurturing yoga class. Continue bonding with your child while you begin moving back into your body in a supportive, holistic parenting community. Get to know your baby better and enjoy the community of other new parents.

For moms of all levels. Please bring a blankie.

Itsy Bitsy Yoga
Itsy Bitsy YogaŽ introduces your baby to the many benefits of yoga in the first years of life. Helen Garabedian, an Infant Developmental Movement Educator and Registered Yoga Teacher, created this program which includes more than 125 yoga poses and techniques for babies from birth to 4 years old (please note - this class is for infants 6 weeks to 9 months) that are developmentally appropriate and deepen the parent/child bond. A calming and nurturing yoga class where parents learn to help babies unfold their motor skills, sleep better, feel happier, and digest with ease.

For moms of all levels. Please bring a blankie.

Tween Yoga
During puberty and teen years, immense changes are taking place in the body's chemistry and physiology. This class creates a special place for teens to develop comfort with their bodies, better understand the physical and emotional shifts common at this age, and have a space to relax from increasing academic and social pressures that they may be experiencing.

Meditation

In meditation, we are continuously discovering who and what we are. This weekly gathering is an opportunity to learn more about meditation and to connect with other people that would like to become more mindful in their lives. Through careful and sustained observation, we experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As our internal awareness deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives. Each class will include a brief introduction to meditation with instructions. The actual meditation will begin at 7:15pm.
