Exploring the Heart, Replenishing the Soul: Yoga and Reading
With Tawanna Kane

Thursdays, October 2nd – November 20th; 7:15pm – 8:45pm

Learning to love your self requires self-acceptance, time, and curiosity. Beginning with the path set forth by Sharon Salzberg in A Heart as Wide as the World, we will begin to open up to our bodies through yoga and meditation. Each class will be themed to correlate with a section of the book, gaining insight and perspective on ourselves through our weekly practice and reading. The second half of the course will utilize The Way Forward is With a Broken Heart by Alice Walker book, embracing and honoring self throughout the fluctuations of living and beginning to establish a healing process after suffering through deep relaxation and rejuvenating postures. During the six weeks, we will stretch and challenge the body and the mind, widening our vessel to include and embrace the truth of our bodies and the truth in our hearts.

Workshop fee: $120, $136 with Yoga Mat

If you would like to support another local community business, you can purchase your books for this workshop at Breathe Books on The Avenue in Hampden. Please visit www.breathebooks.com for more information.

Dive in to the Flow - A Prana Vinyasa Flow Workshop with live Drumming
With Angie Gentile

Saturday, October 12th; 1:00pm – 4:00pm

In this creative Prana Vinyasa Flow workshop – you will dive into a breath and rhythm inspired journey-- a complete spectrum of rhythms from meditative and rejuvenating to the challenging and empowering. The flow or wave of a class is created through cycles of effective and creative sequences (vinyasas) linked together through the breathwave. Woven into beats from a live drummer, the thinking mind lets go, allowing the feeling mind (bhava) to dive into the flow of practice.
If that wasn't groovy enough -- enjoy a deep vivid yoga nidra - enhancing innate organic rhythms of the body, to integrate whole transformation of strength and fluidity, circulation and centering on all levels.
Students of all levels are welcome, however previous yoga experience is recommended.

Workshop fee: $40 if pre-registered by October 6th, $45 at the door

A Breath of Fresh Air: Using Breath as a Support in Yoga and Life
With Angie Gentile

Thursday, September 25th; 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Yoga is linked to the breath; life is linked to the breath. Prana (life force) is linked to the breath.

Breathe to live a whole life! Most of the time in day-to-day life, we are breathing shallow breaths, not realizing our capacity to breathe fully. Shallow breathing can lead to anxiety, physical manifestations of stress (particularly in the back, neck and shoulders), and potentially contribute to other health problems.

In this interactive experience, we will dive into the breath. Students will learn how the breath can help to manage emotions, promote connection and focus the mind. We will learn and practice pranayama basic breathing techniques that you can do at anytime on your own, during periods of stress or during your yoga practice.

Pranayama (breathing) promotes embodiment leading to a full radiant life experience and a connection to the source. We already have everything we need in the breath to change our mood, energy level, detoxify the system, and focus thoughts! All just by breathing!

Students of all levels are invited to experience prana – through the simple experience of breathing fully. No prior yoga experience required.

This is a free event. Pre-registration is required.
